There are legit companies out there willing to pay you for user testing. This can be a decent way to earn money online by testing different products. TryMyUI is one of these platforms. Is it legitimate or a scam? That’s what we’ll uncover in this review.

The program claims to pay up to $10 for a quick 20-min test during which you’d be expected to answer a range of questions. Apart from it, you’ll also be browsing a handful of websites. So, what is the platform all about?

What is TryMyUI?

As the name Try My UI suggests, you will be testing out several websites/applications’ interfaces and providing feedback. This feedback will be used to make further improvements after checking how people interact with these web properties.

You will have to record your screen activity on the app/website and provide feedback via speech. The TryMyUI platform came into existence in 2010 to bridge the gap between real users and developers through real-world testing to provide a seamless experience.

It could make for a decent side hustle if you could use some extra cash. It certainly can’t be a day job replacement since the earning potential is severely limited. Without a doubt, it can still get you a quick buck if you have 20-25 minutes to spare each day.

How does It work?

To get started, simply enter your name and e-mail address and set a password of your choice. Once done, complete the form that asks for your demographic information. It should look like the following:

Next step will be to set up a recording software named TryMyUI recorder. It will record not only your screen and voice but also the mouse/cursor movements. Watching the example video (1 min) will only help you understand the process a bit better (optional step).

Once done, you can appear for a quick qualification test. Make sure to record the screen and speak in a normal tone. This will be evaluated and whether or not you’re selected depends on your test performance.

You will be assigned a downloadable file that will contain all the instructions for the test. Once you’re ready, hit the record button on the software to begin. Here’s an example video in case you wondered what the process looks like:

Approval may take 24-48 hours after you’ve submitted the test recording. It’s worth noting if the performance in the tests isn’t great and you’re given feedback of 1-2 stars from the clients, you won’t get paid. If that’s the case, the next person in line will get to do a review.

Try My UI Payouts

The payouts aren’t handsome. You’ll receive $10 per successful test for which you can expect to trade up to 30 minutes of your time. A submission isn’t enough though; after it’s done, you will have to wait for approval from the actual client.

Once it’s all done, you can receive payments through PayPal on Fridays. For best results, you can perhaps combine it with legit survey sites like Forthright Surveys and Radial Insight or data entry systems like Lionbridge Smart Crowd to supplement your income.

You won’t be receiving too many tests from the company. Once you’re on board, you may receive 2 tests per week via email.

Things We Liked

  • The registration process is free and open to all.
  • Decent way to make a quick buck working online. $10 for every 30-35 minutes of your time can be ideal if you have some extra time and are looking to work.
  • Weekly payouts via PayPal every Friday. There’s no minimum payment threshold either.

Things We Didn’t Like

  • You can only receive up to 2 tests per week via email. Availability is definitely limited.
  • If you don’t respond quickly, the next person in line (another freelancer) will get the job. The tests are served on a first-come, first-served basis only. There are no loyalty rewards either.
  • If the client disapproves of your work quality for whatever reason, you’d only lose 30-35 minutes of your time and won’t get paid a dime.
  • You get paid per job. This can get you a few spare dollars in your pocket, but it’s anything but passive income. Fortunately, there are many legitimate ways to build an online business and fire your boss once and for all.

Conclusion – Is TryMyUI a Scam?

No, TryMyUI is not a scam. They are a legit user testing organization, and they pay on time. However, the pay isn’t handsome, and you certainly shouldn’t expect to make a living out of it.

If this sounds interesting, you can get started with them here. Be ready to appear for a test and approval before you’re awarded real testing jobs.

We can still recommend the website to our readers for many reasons. If you have some time and are looking for extra work, why not utilize it and make some dough online? If it’s passive income that you’re interested in, this program, unfortunately, won’t suffice.
